Coley Pitches Curve Back Into Win Column In Road Trip Finale

ERIE, Pa. – The Altoona Curve snapped their seven-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over the Erie SeaWolves behind seven strong innings from Austin Coley on Monday night at UPMC Park.

The Curve (41-39) avoided a four-game sweep at the hands of the SeaWolves (40-42) to cap the eight-game road trip.

Altoona broke onto the scoreboard in the second inning with a two-out, two-run homer by Edwin Espinal, his ninth of the year. He leads the team with 52 RBIs on the season.

The Curve added a pair of runs in the fifth inning on a two-run double by Pablo Reyes to pull ahead, 4-0.

Erie plated their only run of the game in the sixth with an RBI double by Dominic Ficociello.

Tate Scioneaux pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning and struck out one. Montana DuRapau (Save, 12) worked a perfect ninth inning with a strikeout, adding to his Eastern League lead in saves. It was the 34th save of his Altoona career, extending his franchise record.

Erie starter Matt Crouse (Loss, 4-2) allowed four runs over six innings with three walks and six strikeouts. Kurt Spomer pitched one scorleless relief inning and Gerson Moreno held the Curve off the board in the eighth and ninth innings.

The Curve return to Peoples Natural Gas Field on Tuesday night to begin a three-game series against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.
